Some really nice links today, all from sources I can't believe I haven't seen/linked to until now. Duh on me.
Food Blog of the Week
Food Network Addict
Gracing the internet since June 2006, Jacob’s Garten/Brown/Duff-based blog could be subtitled "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the Food Network But Were Afraid to Ask, Lest The Answer be Sandra Lee." Fantastic stuff.
Food Comedy of the Week
Space Chips from The Simpsons
I don’t know what Hulu.com is or what it does, but as long as it keeps the Simpsons clips coming, it’s okay by me.
Food Organization of the Week
Forgotten Harvest
A rescue-and-distribute system serving the greater Detroit area, FH saves about eight million pounds of food per year from restaurants, caterers, etc, to donate to people in need. Great idea, four-star charity.
Food Quote of the Week
"Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer." -Dave Barry
Untried Cheap, Healthy Recipe of the Week
Asian-style Sauteed Pea Shoots and Peanut Butter Granola from Everybody Likes Sandwiches
It’s a two-fer this week, because I couldn’t decide which dish looked more totally, completely appetizing. My sweet side said, “go with the granola, babypie,” while the savory side was all, “mmm … pea shoots.” They fought each other for days until a stalemate was reached, peace was declared, and a treaty was signed, proclaiming both recipes equally envy-worthy. God bless America.
Food Video of the Week
“American Pie” by Don McLean
This dang blog’s almost a year old, and I haven’t yet linked to the ultimate pie song. Take ten minutes and sing along, folks.
Totally Unrelated Extra Special Bonus of the Week
“The Japanese Office” an SNL Digital Short
Again with the Hulu stuff! This is hilarious, especially if you’re an Office/Kristen Wiig/Ricky Gervais fan. Stick around for the last line.
